Science Promotion
In Schools And Communities:
SVSS is committed to promoting scientific temper, rational thinking, and a spirit of inquiry among children, youth and community people. Every year, on the occasion of the martyrdom day of Dr. Narendra Dabholkar, the organization conducts awareness programs in schools to encourage students to question myths, superstitions, and so-called miracles through scientific reasoning.
These interactive sessions include demonstrations that reveal the science behind commonly perceived “miracles,” discussions on critical thinking, and conversations about the importance of evidence-based understanding in everyday life. The programs inspire students to develop curiosity, ask questions, and make informed decisions while fostering respect for science and constitutional values.
Children Science Congress:
During the literacy campaign in Panipat district, one demand consistently emerged: greater attention needed to be given to children’s education. At the same time, the literacy workers realized that superstition was deeply rooted in society, making it essential to promote a scientific temper and rational thinking. Keeping this in mind, the literacy campaign in Panipat began participating in the first Children’s Science Congress in 1993. Children present their project reports at the district level; selected teams advance to the state level, and teams chosen there get the opportunity to present at the national level. In this process their teachers act as mentors.
The event brought together scientists, educationists, and subject experts working at the national level. Even today, participants continue to provide leadership to people’s movements at the district as well as at state level while promoting scientific thinking and a rational outlook in society.
