A cultural campaign, street theatre, and cultural movements are among the most effective tools for bringing social change. It gives voice to the people, encourages debate on difficult questions, and initiates discussions that lead to transformation. By challenging outdated beliefs and fostering new ideas, these cultural movements strive to reshape society.

The greatest strength of this campaign lies in its direct dialogue with the public. Art has played a significant role in transforming literacy into a people’s movement. Our cultural campaign has helped millions gain knowledge, find new paths to address public issues, raise questions of identity and dignity of deprived sections.

Shaheed Virendra Natya Manch is continuously working in this area by using Natak as a powerful, accessible tool for social change. Through this campaign, by performances of plays, songs, and folk-songs in public spaces like markets and street corners, it raises awareness on critical issues such as gender inequality, education, and public health. Mostly youth from colleges volunteer as artists in the team and learn theatre and other art forms and contribute to society.  Some mature folk singers also play an important role in “Rangni Teams”.

In Haryana, the campaign has successfully generated meaningful discussions on scientific thinking and issues affecting ordinary people. It has encouraged students, youth, farmers, workers, employees, and intellectuals to participate in both direct and indirect dialogue on social concerns. Today, in an era marked by globalization, increasing religious polarization, and growing economic inequality, our cultural campaign has emerged as the voice of the marginalized and underprivileged sections of society.
